Direct answer. China's register returns 48 mould-and-die records: 26 in force, 20 superseded, 2 pending, none mandatory. Most fixes mould steels and machine interfaces, not mould construction, and the 1984 injection-mould parts series is fully withdrawn. A drawing can cite steel and interfaces, rarely the mould build.
China's standards register returns 48 mould and die records, none mandatory. Here is what the current set fixes, and what a mould drawing cannot cite.
A mould quotation from a Chinese toolmaker often arrives with a line that reads "national standard steel" or "GB/T compliant". This page tests what that sentence can and cannot mean, using the National Standards Information Public Service Platform register rather than supplier documents. The register is a list of what exists, what is in force and what has been withdrawn; it does not publish tolerances, hardness values or prices, and neither does this page.
A single query on the term for moulds and dies (模具) returns 48 records, transcribed in full further down.

| Records returned | 48 |

| Pending (published, not yet effective) | 2 |

Zero mandatory records is the finding that matters most in a procurement conversation. China's compulsory standards system does exist, but it is a separate catalogue, and nothing in this set carries compulsory status. A supplier who claims a mould must hold "GB compulsory certification" is making a claim this register does not support. What the register does support is a much narrower statement: recommended standards exist, and they are mostly about inputs.
Thirteen of the 26 current records are about the material the mould is cut from, not about the mould as a product. The mould-steel family covers general tool and mould steel (GB/T 1299-2025, effective 2026-05-01), cold-work grades (GB/T 34564.1 and 34564.2-2017, the second being flame-hardening steel), hot-work grades (GB/T 34565.1-2017, the die-casting half of the family), and four parts of the plastics-mould steel series (GB/T 35840.1 to 35840.4, covering non-alloy, pre-hardened bar, corrosion-resistant and pre-hardened plate). Two newer records extend the same idea to powder: mould steel powder for additive manufacturing (GB/T 43895-2024) and cemented carbide stock for ultra-precision optical moulds (GB/T 46324-2025).
Two test-and-treatment records sit alongside them: thermal fatigue testing of hot-work mould steels (GB/T 15824-2008) and heat treatment of 4Cr5MoSiV1 hot-work mould steel parts (GB/T 42083-2022).
The practical consequence is asymmetric. If your drawing names a steel grade, there is very likely a current standard behind that name, and a Chinese supplier quoting that grade has something to point at. If your drawing instead describes the mould assembly — cavity count, ejection, cooling layout, parting line — the current GB/T set offers far less, and the specification has to come from your own drawing.
This is the part of the table that most often surprises buyers who inherited an old drawing. Thirteen records in the withdrawn column are the 1984 series for injection-mould parts: push rods, guide bushes, headed and shouldered guide pillars, mould plates, spacer blocks, support pillars, stop pins, ejector plates and conical locating elements (GB/T 4169.1 to 4169.11-1984), plus the general specification for those parts (GB/T 4170-1984). A related withdrawn record covers hard-metal drawing dies (GB/T 6110-1985).
Every one of those records shows as superseded, and the register does not name a replacement for them. For a buyer, that means a drawing that cites GB/T 4169 parts by number is citing a withdrawn series. Whether any given supplier still cuts to those dimensions is a question for the drawing, not for the register.
The current records that do address moulds or their interfaces fall into four small groups:
Measurement has one entry of its own: GB/T 25134-2010, an optical measurement specification for three-dimensional geometry of forgings and their dies.
Two records are published but not yet effective, both dated 2027-02-01: conformal cooling inserts (GB/T 47758-2026) and a general specification for shoe-sole moulds (GB/T 47762-2026). Neither changes what you can cite today. They are listed because a supplier quoting "the newest standard" for conformal cooling would be quoting something that is not yet in force.
No tolerance values, no steel hardness ranges, no dimensional tables, no prices, no lead times and no claim about which supplier holds which certification appear here, because the register publishes none of them and this page does not invent them. The register also does not say why a record was superseded, so no reason is given above. Where a standard's scope is inferred from its title, that inference is ours and is marked as such by the wording "the family covers", not presented as the standard's own scope clause.
For the process pages that sit around this one, see die casting, injection moulding, tolerances and the wider GB standards overview.

No. All 48 records returned for the mould and die term are recommended standards; the register shows zero mandatory records in this set, so no compulsory GB standard applies to moulds as such.
No. All thirteen 1984 records in that series, together with GB/T 4170-1984, show as superseded in the register, and the register does not name replacements.
GB/T 38533-2020 covers mould fixing and connecting dimensions for rubber and plastics injection moulding machines, which is the interface question rather than the tool-building question.
Not in this register. The register lists codes, titles, status and dates; it publishes no property values, so hardness and tolerance figures have to come from the standard text or from your drawing.
Conformal cooling inserts (GB/T 47758-2026) and a general specification for shoe-sole moulds (GB/T 47762-2026); both are published with an effective date of 2027-02-01.
